How is professional notarized translation done?

Notarized translations, which are specifically requested by certain government offices and agencies, represent a process whereby a notary certifies that documents translated by a sworn translator recognized by the notary are correct and fully represent the source text.

Different from sworn translation, notarized translation allows you to get your documents officially recognized.

Even if you receive a sworn translation service from a person or an organization, they may not be recognized by every notary as a sworn translator. So, if you wish to have a notarized translation, choosing the notary recommended by your translation agency can save you time and unnecessary costs.

Your questions

What does notarized translation mean?

Notarized translation is the process where the authentication of a translated document is approved by the notary public authorized by the government. Before being certified by a notary, a document must be translated and signed by a sworn translator for its accuracy and correctness.

How do I notarize a translation?

To notarize a translation, a document must be translated by a sworn translator who swears an oath to its accuracy and signs it. Following the translation step, the document is then prepared and submitted to notary for their approval. Notary’s approval does not guarantee the quality of the work. That responsibility belongs to the translator.

Why would I need a notarized translation?

Notarized translation is usually needed due to official requirements during visa applications, work or residence permits, immigration applications for legal documents such as birth, death and marriage certificates, business contracts, immigration documents etc.

What is a certified translation?

Certified translation is the translation where the translators or the translation company approves and signs that the content has been translated correctly and accurately. This kind of translation represents a guarantee of quality and responsibility belongs to the translator or translation company who signs it.
